man say what you will about the shortcomings of these platforms but so far every single one of the giant venture capital twitter killers has lasted a fraction of the time and been significantly more jank than mastodon, cohost, or at this point even fucking pillowfort

threads and bluesky are already falling apart! it's been like, a week for threads! I don't know how anyone at this point can still believe in the Tech Thoughtleader narrative, the emperor absolutely has no clothes, these people are dipshits of the highest degree

users showed up on bluesky with usernames using the N-word. The team has not directly addressed this.

Today they published new “community guidelines”, but have no plan for how community guidelines would be enforced. They apparently hope that instead of moderation they can use a combination of “AI”, “blockchain”, and “pretending not to see it”

from what I’ve read, usage is way down from the initial frenzy—presumably everyone who wanted Twitter, But Facebook has already signed up and looked around and found it to be exactly that. personally, I got tired of scrolling through influencers and engagement bait looking for posts by any of my friends and left; doubt I’m alone in that.
