driving. the comforting blanket of music, AC blasting, tires on pavement, and traffic noises laying thick over your ears. you pull into the driveway and turn the car off: a sudden cascade of silence, deafening. senses shocked back to the present. and for a moment, you hear it: the distance and muffled sound of screaming anguish, crying, wailing and moaning. the occasional clang of battle. and as it appears, it fades away again just as quickly. the familiarity haunts, the realization horrifies you; is this the dream, and is that the waking? you open the door of the car, and step out. the thought exits your mind completely as sensation returns. until next time.
