Enduring the sludge that is game development

Thinking a lot about the dark ages of late PS2 and mostly 360/PS3 era where games didn't smartly stick to a reliable core game loop and just put in some racing / stealth bullshit when not needed. I'm here to be contrarian and say it might have been good? Or rather I think it's rather noble to offer variety even if everything isn't what people signed up for.

I'm realizing that my game development style is very much in line with wanting to throw something new around the corner even if it means loads of game development time for like 30 seconds of enjoyment. Though that probably means I shouldn't have made a giant metroid-like labyrinth of a game. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

I'm actually kind of liking the idea of 'twitter but longer' or 'longer than a twitter thread but shorter than an article'
