I'm starting to wonder if part of my Brand of being autistic is having no sense of the "uncanny valley". I just scrolled through a list of things that are uncanny and like...they're not scary, at all, I wouldn't say scary or uncomfortable are emotions I associate with them.
This thought is specifically brought on by AI output—I've seen a lot of people call AI writing or AI art scary, uncomfortable, etc. but...I don't feel it and I don't quite understand it.
There are uncanny things that scare me, but specifically things that are visibly Not Right like visible mutilation or odd numbers of limbs. but uncanny valley? things that are supposedly scary because they look almost human but are not? I can't say they make me feel negatively.
(What I've read about the so-called uncanny valley also feels like it could veer into ableism too but I don't feel like writing an essay after ending work for the day lmao. But I'll leave it at: does anyone ever watch my mannerisms and find them uncanny?)
