gosh i adore the way you use gradients for shading... idk how to describe it exactly but it just like, i see that pink and orange and it feels like a sunset and having that little bit of like, hyperrealism there just really accents the emotions, like the characters are feeling too strongly to be contained by their colour palettes, that orange bursting through in the highlights. does this make sense? probably not but i am feeling emotions about it anyway
this is such a nice comment to come back to 🥺 sometimes I don't fully contemplate why I make certain decisions while in the flow of making an art piece, but it's probably more deliberate than I give it credit for! Like at one point I did try a gradient on the sky in the bg, and some background mental process probably decided that it detracted from the softness/warmth of the characters, so I shaded it with hard edges instead? So glad that you're picking out these things because I may not notice them otherwise!
