hey, i know multiple people who have used the term "7/10 game" (in the Dark Souls 2 kind of way) and i Know i heard Austin Walker talk about it at some point, but does anyone know if there's a Definitive origin to that descriptor somewhere? or was it asychronously coined by a bunch of people everywhere and it doesn't matter? asking for research purposes

ye, for sure. i know they definitely used it as well, but unsure on the timing, etc.
Michael Brough also drew that first ZEAL logo we used. We were actually going to call the site "7/10" but someone else had just started a website called "5/10" and wanted us to change it (Brough even drew another version of the logo in the same style that said "7/10").
This idea was floating around at the time but he put it in a wonderfully quotable form. People used to (and sometimes still say) "BBB" or "single A", but 7/10 is much more specific to the final product imo.
