i was like "what person can i use to replace god in the phrase 'god give me strength'". first idea was douglas adams, second was kurt vonnegut
those are both solid choices. i tend to lean towards someone personally relatable as goals kind of thing. i've done stints where i called upon epic girlbosses like RBG. a bit of a cop tho, federal judge and all. if i'm going for someone whose name i do not feel worthy to utter then i reach for Marsha P. Johnson or Sylvia Rivera. particularly when i was much younger, i've also called upon fictional people like princess leia who did every bit as much saving as being saved. or like she-ra who always did the saving.
i think the key part is that who they are is who you want to be and they need to be good enough at it that you don't feel worthy to utter their name. bonus points if they would find it amusing both that you're using their name in this way and that you don't feel worthy. douglas adams is definitely bonus points. lol
hell yeah i like ur take on it (and i don't feel worthy to use douglas adams's name, so that one works)
