like sorry maybe its my shit day at work talking but i don't see why "cohost needs better accessibility features" and "this site is run by like 5 people" can't both be valid points. why the fuck are we tearing each other to shreds over this. god

i hate how someone saying "this place gives me migraines i wish they would at least somewhat outwardly acknowledge the bug report" drives people consistently to a fervor and brings on a whole discourse because people take that as a personal attack for some reason
it's one of the things i thought we were trying to move past in starting anew on this site. the "i like waffles" "so you HATE FRENCH TOAST HUH" shit.
but i don't need to shout about that more than i already have, i've written a whole draft or two about it as it is that i've gone and stashed away like a diary entry to burn later
the flavor of discourse it brings on drives me mad
yeah no that is fucking nuts. no one needs to be flaming the fuck out of light sensitive people for being light sensitive and saying cohost hurts their eyes. what
i probably should have kept this one in drafts too honestly but i just saw a post that was like WEIRDLY vitriolic about it and im like. ok. none of this is necessary
the seed post for this was stating first and foremostly that it had been a one year anniversary for the "please fix dark mode" bug report and they were a little bit frustrated that it had not ever been publicly addressed, even after being made the most voted item on the tracker. that they wished staff would at least say something about it, rather than continued silence.
and then people started acting as if the post tried to run them over with a bus and got super pissy about it and subtweety and god it has been a whole day of this. i don't even dare peer into the tag itself, what's come across my following feed is more than enough misery
i don't think anyone expects it to be fixed tomorrow but they want to know that it's at least some amount of a priority on their list. immediately that's construed as "bullying staff" and they need to "put the gun down" and be patronizingly told why they're stupid for wanting the issue fixed at all
yeah i think people could benefit from taking a step back and saying, "you know what this isn't an attack on me personally" or even like "this person has a right to be frustrated and i dont need to give them a hard time for no reason"!! christ. like. Everyone Please Realize This
there's a big big reason i silenced the meta tags into oblivion. people can be so nasty for no good reason.
