my friends and i have been watching yugioh gx and i think it's the best decision i've ever made honestly
[spoilers for a 20 year old series... i guess] the fucking random catboy guy, professor daitokuji, tuns out to be 1) the seventh evil duelist the protagonists have to fight, 2) a literal actual alchemist, and 3) also a literal actual homunculus. judai kicks his ass and he crumbles to dust and dies, and then his cat eats his soul. the world is saved. unfortunately manjoume hit his head or something when professor catboy kidnapped him, so in the next episode he steals all the apocalypse keys and gets his ass beat by asuka for being insufferably straight. since he has all the apocalypse keys on him when he loses, manjoume accidentally causes the apocalypse by being entirely too heterosexual.
oh yeah alchemy just works in gx btw. like professor catboy teaches a class on it
we've been watching serious anime for a while (gwitch, monster, violet evergarden etc.) and a lot of the stuff suggested for the future is also serious (pluto, gankutsuou, turn a gundam) so it's nice to watch something that doesn't take itself seriously at all
