there's a stock image in the CNBC article showing a rack full of dental floss locked behind a “press button for help” pane, and it’s making me seethe. Imagine needing to flag down a store associate so they can keyfob-unlock the sliding glass door to retrieve a box of dental floss and stick it in an alarmed acrylic case that needs to then be unlocked at the register. It's a bad experience for everyone involved.

I think one of my "favorite" bits about this thing was when Walgreen announced in like, 2019 that they were going to close a bunch of stores in 3 years or so, and then, weirdly, we had that blitz of "Walgreens shuttering stores due to shoplifting!" stories, then it got quiet.
