I loved this site so much in middle and high school, I would walk everywhere and wear the soles out of my chucks hoping in vain that someone would notice the cool lacing.
OH i wish i had known about this in high school bc i would have done. The same thing w my chucks lmao
thank you ian, for your service π«‘
remembering the time i had to duck tape my chuck soles back on to get through the day, good times
haha, holy shit, I've been using "Ian's Secure Shoelace Knot" for the past 15 years, ever since I got that pair of boots where the laces were a bit too long and a bit too slippery and kept on undoing themselves.
I think this was the website that also taught me that I was just plain tying my shoelaces wrong for more than a decade - the bow should sit horizontally across your shoe. If it's diagonal or vertical, you've done part of it backwards, and it's a much weaker knot.
yeah ive actually been like, thinking about learning new knots bc my work/walkaround shoes are sooooo hard to keep tied due to a pair of pretty thick laces. so i just tried the ian knot on them and it works pretty much perfect!!! it's amazing.
What's even more wild is that while this still has a strong "web 1.0" flavor it actually does adapt to mobile phones perfectly. Proof that responsive design doesn't have to be just for "apps".
Now THIS is a website!
... I might try that shoelace knot brb
it works relly well if you want my opinion! i wear hiking shoes to work and the laces are pretty hard to keep tied but the ian knot keeps them tied nicely.
I figured out years ago how to tie the traditional shoelace slipknot the right way around so the loops are parallel to the lace and that's been Good Enough but it still occasionally jams and for-real knots when I undo them
