I need to play Dwarf Fortress for real.
I need to play it until something happens, not just make a new world whenever i make a minor mistake.

a common thing in the dwarf fortress community is "losing is fun" which basically means its fine to make mistakes! you just roll with them cause almost every fortress will end up falling at some point. plus every dwarf fortress fuckup/failure usually makes for a good story. like, last time i forgot to put grates on the volcano caldera i was using for my magma forges so a magma crab jumped out, set a dwarf on fire, the flaming dwarf ran into the stockpiles and we all almost died from a massive fire. and even after that the SMOKE from the fire was causing fps loss so i had to do a bunch of bullshit with dfhack to get it to stop
losing. is fun :)
