Sone smaller scale troubles in a few areas. Getting closer to 1,000 people arrested over the riots now, and numbers will rise as all the livestreams, social media posts and photos are being slowly combed through to identify troublemakers.

Today I am reading about some of the kids that have been arrested for violent disorder. Some as young as 13.

Grim.

I remember once I was talking about encountering racism in Yorkshire, mostly to other POC, and then one of the white people who was listening in asked if it was all white men with shaven heads - like that was her fantasy for who does racism.

I had to explain to her that no, in my experience it includes women, children, middle aged couples, old people... You name it. I've had random strangers from every demographic talking racist shit at me or behaving badly.

So am I surprised a 13 year old girl was involved in attacking a hotel for asylum seekers? No. But it's still grim to read it.

There's no particular group that is automatically "safe" or "safer" to be around that way.

And I am still seeing news reports of individuals targeted by racists. So while the larger scale actions are going quiet, individual acts of violence are still a risk.

POC and refugees and Muslims aren't going to just forget what's happened. It's heartening that there were counterprotests by hundreds or even thousands of people. It's frightening that all of this broke out in the first place. I don't think anyone feels safer at the moment, let's put it that way.
