Inspired by this video, I'm spending the second day building a private Ragnarok Online server. @__@

I've always wanted to do this, but never would have imagined that I would actually be able to run an ancient 2007 eAthena server and find a compatible kRO client from 2006 with a compatible hexed exe file. EPISODE 10 LETSGOOO

This has become a real web archaeology project, and it wouldn't be possible without the Internet Archive and Wayback Machine, because eAthena is long dead and everybody has moved on to Renewal servers... T^T

Something really changes inside of you when you open a ratemyserver page from 2006 with waybackmachine and download a cached torrent file with the slightest hope that someone may still seed it...

So, where am I at right now with this? Installing Visual Studio 2005 to rebuild the eAthena source code that I've tweaked for some fun stuff (: And also setting up a registration page, lol.

Stay tuned for some announcements if you're interested! ^o^

P.S. Just to be clear, I'm being so stubborn about running an old RO server and not later ones that are actually being supported right now, like rAthena, mostly because I don't want to play anything more recent after they've trashed Morroc in Episode 12 :\

Thank you to everyone who's supported our fundraiser over at the Asheville Blade. We're about halfway to our goal.

Our co-op's had an incredibly hard year. Two of our reporters were put on trial for covering a police crackdown on a homeless camp. As radical trans and nb folks we face no shortage of backlash and threats. On top of all that it gets harder and harder to make ends meet.

We also love this work and believe local radical journalism is needed now more than ever. Any donation or support is welcome, including sharing and apreading the word.

Soul of Sovereignty - Prelude

"In a desolate town forgotten by the Mosaic, fate brings two strangers together: a frail woman in need of aid and a gentleman happy to offer it. The two set out into the icy wilderness seeking a miracle, and what the gentleman finds is proof that no good deed goes unpunished. Soul of Sovereignty is a tale of deadly kindness and selfish virtue in a world of magic and ruin."
