Expanding more seriously on this: It's probably not appropriate to bring up, and also I wouldn't want to talk about that with coworkers anyways because I like keeping a kind of strict work-life seperation

I wanted to come up with a joke for this, but honestly I can't think of anything that works. So I'll just stick with your two basic options: one is that you just don't and either wait for it to come up organically or just...never. The second option is to just rip the bandaid off and get it over with.

Given that you haven't gone with the latter already I'm assuming you don't have the kind of friendship with this coworker that where it would be a good idea to discuss that, especially at work.
