this thinkpad x270 (16gb ram, some i7, all ssd) tom gave me to use while my computer is in the shop (display accident, very painful, don't ask) is... nice in a lot of ways, but it's so obviously a different class of machine than i'm used to lmao.
i extremely understand that spending more than a month's salary on a computer is not normal, and not something even a lot of people who can afford it will do. i've extremely spoiled myself but i'm also realizing that having that better experience is still extremely worth it for me.
i'm sure i could get a somewhat better experience out of this if i put some flavor of linux on here instead of win10 (but that also means i wouldn't be able to use this machine for like half the things i need it to do - linux still doesn't have daws, video editors, or image manipulation software that's usable for me) but i don't have that kinda time rn because i have to be able to rely on this machine to do my day job lol
...that being said, x270s are cheap and i kinda want my own purely because i think the 12" form factor is neat and there's a lot to like about this machine in terms of haptics
