man. as much as i hate my computer becoming Big iPhone in some ways that really annoy me1, apple silicon still fucking rules.
seeing my laptop, on battery power, tear through video encoding tasks way quicker than my x64 desktop can? on a laptop where the entire machine draws much less power than just the cpu in that desktop alone? hell yeah

i'm a firm believer that unless a computer is physically broken, i should be able to fix it with a flash drive with an os on it, apple silicon machines currently do not operate like that. you can fuck them up badly enough that you need another mac (or something that pretends to be one like a virtual machine) to revive them. ask me how i know.
