Maybe I was too hard on Ranger. I think the Fire crystal is generally much weaker than the first two, and I'm definitely glad to not get Beastmaster.

I did some accidental grinding on Crescent as I tried to get a Death Sickle, which will make my Berserkers much more useful. I also beat Shiva, which was very easy at this point, especially with Black Mages casting Fira.

Anyway, the plot. Ifrit and Byblos have easily-exploitable weaknesses, no problems there. The Sandworm was fine, my Berserker only hit a hole once. Cray Claw actually died to the Instant Death from the Death Sickle which I didn't expect. Adamantoise was completely fine, and I just threw Thundara at the Ronka machines plenty of times. The Soul Cannon got Old on two of my characters and killed them, but that didn't delay me much. I think this might be the first time I didn't use Level 5 Death on the Launchers, I figured out that trick very early on my first playthrough. (This will probably also come up when I fight Atomos later.)

I was worried about Archeoavis but my bigger problem was getting to it. Those Ghidra and Hydra are tough! Animals actually came in slightly useful because I forgot that the second form of the boss was immune to all of my Black Magic. Oops. Anyway, time for my last job. What will it be?

Berserker is serving me fine so far. I tried out using three Berserkers and one Black Mage and I didn't have any issues, it was just super boring. The fire-powered ship wasn't too much of a challenge, but it was the escape from Karnak Castle that really worried me. It's a tricky section with the 10-minute time limit, but I usually handle it fine, even getting all of the chests. And I was fine here... there were just some casualties. I did not bring enough potions, and used them all up. So then my only options for healing were i) letting people die and using phoenix downs or ii) using my elixirs. I ended up wasting like 6 phoenix downs. But I got every chest! Even Esuna, which will be entirely useless. Which reminds me, I'll have to go fight Shiva at some point. For fun. Moving on, job number three.
