seeing everyone point at VR and go "ah! metaverse dumb! tech is dumb!!" is funny bc i regularly hang out with a bunch of freaks (affectionate) who just hang out in VR to be animals and be silly with it instead of whatever Facebook thinks VR is for
and they've been doing it for longer than Zuckerberg has been thinking about VR and will do so well after that bubble bursts, just funny to observe
i've been part of SL (the original 'metaverse') since before VR was even really a thing so it's funny to see people reel at "the metaverse" when they really mean to reel at facebook's rendition of it lol.
i think a lot of the scorn is not for vr itself, which will always have niche appeal (dcs player here!), but more for the tech companies that think they’re going to make billions by using it to reinvent zoom
