one quibble i already see is you need to know if some number is divisible by 3 to tell if a number is divisible by 3

but that is the easiest thing to know (aside from if something is divisible by two) - that is, if the numerals in the number add up to something divisible by 3 .. .oh wait, OK, it might be a challenge for some folks. Hm.

with a loop you could reduce to a state where you test for the digits (0), 3, 6, or 9: 8 + 1 + 9 + 3 = 21 => 2 + 1 = 3, thus 8193 is divisible by three
