(filaments are Polymaker Polyterra PLA+ green and Polyterra PLA "army blue")

wanted a substantial test print to test a printer repair I recently did1, and I need a better PCB clamp than the bargain-basement ones I've already got for some soldering projects I'm going to be doing soon. didn't intend for it to come out quite so seahawks/mariners/sounders-themed2 -- the artifact of a bleary-eyed 2am filament runout -- but I'm pleased to announce that this thing is a classic for a reason and the assembly process makes every printable mechanical design I've ever done look like complete trash. I'm planning to go back and watch christoph's "designing of" video tonight and see if I can steal any tricks.

  1. while I was removing the body for my 3d printable fight stick from the build plate, I managed to bump the print head hard enough that it flew clean off the linear rail that it was mounted on. I replaced the linear rail -- which now has, optimistically, about half the ball bearings it shipped with -- and replaced the toolhead mounting plate with an aluminum CNC replacement which feels significantly sturdier.

  2. jesus christ, seattle pro sports teams sure like blue and green don't they
