I'm grateful to the jerk that leaked it along with just about the whole rest of the album. Cornell reportedly hated the album and didn't want it released. Then it leaked and radio started playing it. Then it got released.
So from what I remember those early Audioslave leaks didn't end up sounding a whole lot like the songs that made it to the album.
maybe there were multiple leaks. The one that my Portland, OR rock station was playing (and that I downloaded off Napster or whatever) sounded the same. I remember thinking the bit at the end of one of the songs where they pitch Chris's voice in weird steps was a mistake, but it was still there in the retail version...
OK, I looked this up. Cornell quit the band not because he didn't like the music, it was a management dispute. Chris had separate management than the Rage boys did, but they got a new management that none of them had prior relationships with and he rejoined.
