i feel like the netflix version of sandman doesn't reconcile the age of its material very well, and it seems like the product of mostly men.


despite expanding the kinds of people that get to be in these stories, it still seems obsessed with ideas of beauty exemplified by its thin, white protagonist.

you can tell despair despairs because she is a fat woman in a comfy sweater who doesn't wash her hair.

some the emotional beats, especially with john, hit hard enough, but i mostly noticed that it was a much less visceral experience than reading the comic.
