This is about tumblr but it isn't ONLY about tumblr but I really, REALLY hate it when statements that begin with "I hope" are construed as threats. Like this isn't an "oh it's not a real threat it's an obvious joke" thing the issue is straight up linguistic. Like motherfucker can you even read? Can you read words? Is the CEO of tumblr fucking.. illiterate?
"I will shit your pants" - obviously a joke, patently ridiculous, but, technically, a threat
"I hope you shit your pants" - categorically not a threat. Possibly a very mean thing to say, perhaps even banworthy, but a different type of mean thing that isn't a threat
