Spring 2000: Children from around the world unite on the internet to support Omnimon in the struggle against Diaboromon.

Now, in the spring of 2024, we have the chance to support a worthy cause of our own, here in the real world.

As you probably know, the government of Israel is currently enacting a genocidal military campaign against the Palestinian people. I’m sick of reading about bad news from Gaza every day, and I’m guessing I’m not the only one. So I’m organizing this zine to get together with other like-minded Digimon fans and help make a difference.

If you’re interested in participating, please follow the link below to sign up. Specific information on the submission process is available via the link, but here’s the gist: The zine will be a celebration of Digimon, the ability of people to connect and understand one another, and the belief in a better future. It is an all-ages anthology that will include art and writing, and can include content from any era or format of the franchise.

All proceeds will be donated to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. For anyone unfamiliar, the PCRF “provides free medical care to thousands of injured and ill children yearly who lack local access to care within the local health care system.” This mission is more important now than ever, as 20 of the 22 hospitals in Northern Gaza have been damaged or destroyed in attacks by the IDF.

I want to be as transparent as possible, so I’ll admit that this is my first time organizing an event like this. But one of the things I love about Digimon is its earnest belief that when passionate people unite in the name of a common goal, they can change the world. For all the challenges and complications that the internet has added to our lives, Digimon asserts that it is primarily a method of connecting us, even when we are separated by unfathomable distance.

So let’s put that belief into practice. Let’s unite our hearts, refuse to give into the despair all around us, and endeavor to make the world a little better. Digital gate, open!
