they had moisture issues. turns out the brick wall behind them also has some moisture issues.
don't like the look of that spalling on the plaster/brick, requested a quote to get a company to look at it & advise on how to stop moisture issues from recurring. but if it ends up being expensive i think i'm just gonna get the wall injected to stop rising damp and otherwise leave it tbh
