and i'm processing the leftovers. i closed up my greenhouse a while ago, but it got way too humid, and now a lot of my chili peppers have a little bit of this brown dirt on them. i assume it's a fungus of some kind, does anyone know if i can still use them if i just wipe it off? it hasn't penetrated the cuticle (waxy layer).
my plan here was to cut these up and freeze them, but i'm not quite sure if they'd keep properly now?
I don't really know, but if it wipes off, I'd think they'd be fine to freeze. Might cook/sear them in oil first, if you have any concerns. Your local county ag/extension agent could probably advise you reliably.
i'm in the netherlands, we don't have the extension system sadly. one of those rare US institutions that whips ass
I see. I'm sorry that I don't have a green thumb. There might very well be email addresses for extension offices in the U.S., or gardening websites/forums. I hope you can save them and enjoy them!
