flattened the whole bottom of the blade and a good chunk of the top on the 600 grit diamond stone. i could use a coarser stone for this sort of thing... although it is very meditative. i watched like six episodes of kimi ni todoke. good show
there were some big high/low spots, and they didn't look intentional the way the hollow on the back of a japanese chisel does. just warping from heat treat / poor grind, i guess. the store explicitly says they manufacture the irons so you have to fix/sharpen them yourself.
next i'll sharpen it on the 1000/3000 grit stone but maybe not tonight.
