next week is my 1 year wanikani anniversary, and i tried duolingo first before getting annoyed with it and switching to wanikani.
i wasn't sure if i was going to stick with it, so i kinda set myself a small and a big goal:
- be able to understand some of the structure of what's being said in an anime or on a website, if nothing else so i can know which part to look up if i want to know something
- read the super cub manga in Japanese, because the scanlator has been real flaky
well, i can now sometimes watch anime for minutes at a time without needing subtitles, and i've been reading super cub and houkago teibou nisshi for months (the latter because it's better practice, since it doesn't have furigana on everything). i still need a dictionary (or subtitles) a lot, but i do still find myself getting noticeably better all the time. pretty happy with my progress really
