been putting it off but the deadline is may 1 lol and idk if i'd get around to it after today.

apparently i'm getting over 4 grand back. turns out the government loves homeowners, who knew. kinda feels weird to take advantage of these programs that i feel should not exist, but on the other hand, i have not had any real savings since i bought the house... it will be nice to have a bit of a buffer again.

plus anything extra can go towards fixing the dormer roof, getting a lintel installed above my front window (there will be long term structural problems if i don't), and replacing the ceilings.

paved a little empty bit by the back door

no picture. hope it doesn't fuck up the drainage too much. i guess we'll see with the rain/thunderstorms predicted for next week

measured a whole ton of stuff

did this for the revit model. i was working off drawings for old construction permits but some of the dimensions seem off. this should help settle some things

dug a hole between the shed and the canal

then i filled it back in. just wanted to see what the situation down there was like for the underground rainwater tank i'm thinking about getting.

the good news is it all just seems to be fine sand (the stuff you tend to use as a layer for paving stones around here). i can dig it out and mix it with some cement to stabilize it to make a solid foundation (it'll be a literal metric ton of water, so that's important!)

the bad news is the water table is a bit high — 70cm (28") down from the surface, which is about the same as the canal next to it (guess they didn't use a liner). and it's very dry right now, so it'll be higher after it rains a bunch. this means there's a risk of the tank moving due to buoyancy forces when empty, breaking all the connections to it.

i might have to pour a concrete slab and tie the tank to it? idk i think i'm gonna have to do some math
