The tip is made of very thin 14K set against a steel backstop that prevents them from flexing too far. The tines splay with very little pressure but the actual line variation is quite limited. It's also a lever filler, which is typical of a certain era but completely unheard of on a new fountain pen.
Just mucking about with it seems to be capable of very gracious and flowing lines. The main effect I've been trying to achieve deliberately is reverse contrast print. It's really satisfying making a quick downstroke and feeling it flex on the horizontal lines.
I think the feel on paper is really good, but the only other fountain pen I've used was a Pilot Kakuno, so...
