JRPGs, VNs, other games and stuff I think are interesting, maybe some writing and/or gamedev if I feel like it?

(I'm writing this as the final run is starting, but I just want to get this out there.)

  • Romancing SaGa 2 (AurionSkydragon): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-5B7zB3NLk - A famed, formerly Japan-only classic. RS2 is known for its extremely difficult bosses, but this run has a particular secret weapon it can take advantage of.
  • Breath of Fire II (Xujhan): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9S3vFr9bbmE - Only watched part of this because I needed to sleep but what I saw was definitely a fun time.
  • The 7th Saga (Dragondarch): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEqZyPIsy7o - There's a particular kind of person for whom this run will be extremely cathartic. Everyone can enjoy watching an infamously hard nightmare of an RPG utterly demolished, though.
  • Maka Maka (dowolf): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIFx20K4Zao - An extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable runner takes on what is certainly a game that was created, using a debug cheat to speed things up massively and translating and personally voicing a significant amount of the dialogue—which doesn't exactly help understand what's going on, but that's mostly because it's Maka Maka.
  • Monochrome Mobius (ChampionBeef): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USf6OlnGfmg - Hey, it's one of the very few Aquaplus RPGs that's actually reasonable to speedrun1! And generally a good showcase of a very overlooked game, by a runner who clearly cares about it. Also did a lot to make up for a few particular early runs that went over estimate.
  • Valkyria Chronicles II (WanderingMindSR): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z53Viqa-SFE - A fun run of the least of its series, with extremely optimized strategies for surviving High School But For War.
  • Suikoden II (Z3R01337): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxp6RMHmTHo - An entertaining runner getting the best ending to this classic game. Features a fairly infamous underflow bug to make certain characters into absolute monsters, and uses a mod to fix the bug that stops about a third of the soundtrack from playing.
  • Atelier Totori DX (PXMacaiah): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYd27075ggU - In which the seemingly airtight methods the Arland Republic uses to measure the skills of adventurers are defeated by jogging.
  • Pokemon Stadium (GhostKumo): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mA4XAzcNvc4 - It's 2 hours of the Pokemon Stadium announcer, what more do you want? Oh, and I guess there's also a speedrun in there that's pretty nice to watch.
  • The Demon Rush: Legends Corrupt (Plastic_Rainbow): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIRtGhzBM0c - You're not gonna convince me not to be an evangelist for the best worst roleplaying game to ever come out of the province of Manitoba. Especially when you don't have to actually play it. Heavily uses a trick with save file manipulation to skip a lot of stuff, but still has to fight a few things including the final boss. Tragically, Brooks Cracktackle remains useless for the run in the remake.
  • Super Lesbian Animal RPG (leggystarscream): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecJpfPGbIi0 - I'll admit that I mostly had this one on in the background since I haven't beaten the game yet and want to remain at least slightly unspoiled, but even in that context it's great because of the awesome soundtrack. Also is cute, gay, and furry, which I'm pretty sure should make it appeal to a substantial amount of this site's users.
  • Custom Robo V2 (bombomb): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2-fd-h27QA - Custom Robo runs are always a fun time, and this one's a game that you generally don't see at English marathons. Features some of the best, highest-skill gameplay I've ever seen in one of these runs.

  1. I mean, you're certainly not gonna see me trying to find a reliable quick kill for DT2's final boss
