yknow what else i realized also has this issue that i wanna rant about for a bit? photos taken with phone cameras.
phones always are advertising like "13 TRILLION NONINTILLION TERAPIXELS!!!" and you may think "oh wow! i bet you can zoom in real far and see a ton of detail!"
and then you do zoom in and realize that all that "detail" is just a bunch of noise and blurriness
Worse yet? all this shit is saved as PNGs or some other lossless format. so you end up with a 100 megabyte PNG that is functionally the same as a jpeg a tenth of its size
As someone with "ok" internet, this bugs the hell out of me every now and again. Can't tell you how many times ive clicked on an amazon review photo or whatever and had to wait 20 seconds for it to load only for it to be the blurriest photo ive seen in my life.
Oh but its fiiiiiine because the IDEAL user has unlimited 5G data, and the latest iphone/galaxy phone, and impeccable wifi at home.
just a small symptom of a much larger issue honestly.
