@littlerat asked:

very curious: did you actually go through all the universes in 24 killers
i've been tempted to but never got around to it

signed - someone who played 24 killers at release and got very excited to see it mentioned
(moon is incredible, isn't it? i love its commitment to the time-based system at great expense to the player lmao)

I played through once and loved it, but wasn't up to play it 25(ish) more times immediately. If I ever come back to it I'll check out one of the alternate universes!

And yeah moon shot up to one of my favorite games ever so quickly! I've never seen a game demand so forcefully that you play by its rules, so it's super jarring to get into. But later in the game I ended up really enjoying the frequent experience of just sitting and waiting for an event to happen. (The cozy vibes and banger soundtrack I think are critical for this to work as well as it does -- it's one reason why after watching Chulip I have no interest in playing it.)

Thanks for the ask!

in reply to @cote's post:

i'm pretty sure there are 24 universes which is very Good and Thematic. but yeah, my desire to know what happens if you go through all the universes, and my lack of desire to play 24 times, and my desire not to look up what happens because i want to find out myself, all war within me lmao

one of my strongest memories of moon is from early on when you're warned that if you run out of love you'll lose your life, and i thought it was like. a random, not gameplay-related statement. but no it was 100% serious. i ran out of action limit on my very first day and it was an instant game over without any "continue" option. and then i realized i had to treat every person in the game and every dialogue as being "important," and it just made the whole world come alive for me.

and that's how i got invested enough to do things like sit around for twenty minutes just to try something, not be sure if it did anything, and then wait another twenty minutes in case the answer was to do it again

I wish I could like a comment on here bc I don't have much to add! I figured whatever I get for playing the game 24 times probably wasn't worth it haha. I haven't looked it up either, I figure maybe I'll get around to it eventually. I know one unlock speeds up dialogue and certain events so maybe there's more stuff that helps you get through the rest more quickly. Otherwise 24 playthroughs feels excessive tbh.

I definitely also spent hours waiting for events in moon - that's the main reason I mentioned the soundtrack specifically. I think having such a phenomenal soundtrack made those waiting periods enjoyable/relaxing to me instead of tedious.
