I like Steam Fest because it makes it easier to see what kind of interesting shit is coming out, most of which has demos. Though I hate the part where the demos go away after a week so I had to rush through the ones I've had sitting since Monday and a lot of things didn't jump at me. But if you want a short take on what I did try, here's that.
En Garde: A cute little character action game where you play as a swashbuckling woman of Zorro nature fighting corrupt city guards. There's a dodge and parry naturally but the other thing you can do is kick objects at enemies to stun them. Also you can pet chickens. 10/10
Sniper Killer: This is by the two game devs that made Bloodwash and Night At The Gates of Hell (and published by Puppet Combo) so it's in that style of faux-PSX horror games they have done before. Except this time around, you are playing both as a serial killer with a sniper rifle but also some of their victims. Pretty good all around, 10/10
Power Drill Massacre: The actual game Puppet Combo is working on, the prototype for that game has been around for years but PC's finally getting to work on finishing it. So far, it's mostly the same but with some fine tuning but the full release will have even more so that's nice. 10/10
Disclaimer: I pay money to Puppet Combo's patreon so I get the games they develop and publish for free
To The Grave: A 2D horror adventure game that made me think of Detention by Red Candle Games, but there's more jokes in it and dying from an enemy or fucking up a puzzle just leads you to King Enma's court where he just tells you to stop dying so much. I opened the door to an abandoned village's communal toilet and the ancient fartgas killed me. 10/10
Unholy: I had this one in my wishlist for a long time and honestly, after playing the demo, I took it off my wishlist. The idea of an otherworld mixed with religious tones was fine but the actual gameplay of stealth and using a slingshot turned me off. Plus the game's options wouldn't let me change the resolution and the gamepad controls were spotty (not just telling you what keyboard prompts are which buttons but also have the mouse curse be visable and go fucking crazy when I used the right stick to look around.) The full game is supposed to come out in a month and I'm not really feeling confident on that. I dunno/10
