I have too many goddamn books and I'm gonna recommend some right now.

  • Blackwater by Jeremy Scahill: Need to hate Blackwater and the Bush Administration even more? Read this.

  • Ali vs Inoki by Josh Gross: If you want to see how the fuck a match like that (aka Inoki destroying Ali's legs) can be made and a layout of how each round went in detail, here's a book for that.

  • Blood Diamond by Greg Campbell: You want an older look into the diamond trade up to around 9/11? This will do

  • Charlatan by Pope Brock (sweet name): Before there was testosterone injections, some guy promoted the idea of cramming men's balls with slices of goat testicles. This is that story.

  • Flawless by Greg Campbell and Scott Andrew Shelby: This is the story about the 2003 Antwerp Diamond Center heist that goes into detail on how humans being complacent and never upgrading security systems lead to $108 million in diamonds and other shit being stolen. The updated edition also takes a massive shit on a Wired article whose writer was trying to sell the story sold to him by one of the thieves as a movie.

  • Any book by T.J. English will work but I particularly recommend The Corporation (about anti-Castro gangsters), Paddy Whacked (about the Irish in America but generally about Irish criminals), Havana Nocturne (about the mob's efforts in Cuba until Castro got into power), and The Savage City (about the case of George Whitmore Jr, who was framed for multiple murders in New York by the NYPD)

  • The Death of WCW by Bryan Alvarez and R.D. Reynolds: Title says it all but absolutely get the latest edition because I read the original version and it came off too much as edgy internet posting.

  • L.A. Noir by Josh Buntin: Come for the chapters about Mickey Cohen, stay for the rest of the book which is about how the LAPD sucks, leading up to Rodney King.

  • Marvel Comics The Untold Story by Sean Howe: Pretty much as it says, you get to see all of the Stan Lee nonsense plus them just shitting on Rob Liefeld and the 90s comic bubble burst

  • Quackery by Lydia Kang and Nate Pedersen: Read Charlatan and need more bullshit cures? This book has a whole list of them over the years including strapping radium to your balls.

  • We Promised You a Great Main Event by Bill Hanstock: I mentioned this book in a previous post but it's just a really good book about the history of the WWE that isn't just about the Attitude Era.
