I write about videogames

Abnormal Mapping is covering a bunch of platformers this month and Toree 3D is one of them, so figured now was a good a time as any to finally play it. It's fun! Literally a "bite-sized" platformer like it says on the tin. Was able to play through it in full in like thirty minutes, But the levels are meant to be played through again for better times, which I like doing on occasion, so it works out.

The levels do that thing where the shortcuts are mostly obvious but easy to miss if you're not explicitly thinking about them, which makes it fun to revisit. Was too focused on grabbing the stars on my first run through each level to think about trying to speed through them. I've only gotten to A rank on a couple of levels so far, and I don't know if I'll actually try for S rank, but I'm enjoying the process so far. It's hitting all the same notes you'd want of slowly piecing together ways to save a second or two with each attempt.

Apparently there's a sequel. Page said the levels in that are more designed with "flow" in mind. Curious to see how that will change the overall feel of them. Felt like the levels flowed pretty well as is.
