normalize going out and doing things without being a “qualified professional”
something that always gets under my skin is when people cringe or look down on bad art that isnt self agrandizing or claiming to be master work. like im sorry, are people not allowed to learn a new skill without instantly being great at it? how are you supposed to make music without making some shitty songs to get a feel for song writing? the first time you touch acrylic to canvas is going to just be a mess, have fun, its fine.
and this is more than just stop putting people down to me, people should be praised for starting a learning journey like this! not only is it stepping to the base of a mountain saying im going to try to climb it, which is brave and wonderful, its fucking vulnerable! we need to nurture and support each other in these endeavors, not cast casual derision like a wet blanket on their barely kindled flame!
how will we get new skilled wonders if we try to squash all the people we see starting their journey? and to that point: YOU DONT HAVE TO END UP BEING GOOD! Making shitty songs because you think its fun is good enough! Have fun! Art is fun! Learning is fun! you can make 1000 shitty songs and never improve because you just like doing it and thats great, and i bet along the way you'll end up improving by accident!
(I sub in specifics like art or music, but this applies to learning literally anything art or otherwise, i just thought itd be more evocative to weave in examples that i see especially being put down in this way)
