💿 well first youve gotta let go of all that losing yourself worries!! dont worry, youll usually still be there, just slightly adjusted to what your owner needs!!! c:
.... im being informed by the others that this is not the best way to introduce stuff to people who have concerns about their identity when becoming a robot. killjoys. >:c
okay then. to answer your question, first you gotta find what kind of robot you wanna be. since youre specifically saying "cute robot" (which isnt saying too much since all robots are cute but anyways), im gonna assume youd probably want a domestic use model (theyre closer to what most humans describe as "cute" compared to the average industrial unit ive seen). theres a lot of different models of that type to go for, from more humanoid ones to more simplistic, single use models (like me! im a roomba!!) once youve figured out what kind of model you wanna be (or decided to go for something random), youre gonna have to find someone to help change you into that model. i know a lot of other robots who offer these conversions from the perspective of someone who has also gone through it, including some good friends!
as for "losing myself".... im gonna have to be the opposite of myself for a moment and be serious here. existing as a mechanical entity, even one that has the continuation of a biological individual, will be different from being human. all nonhuman shapes change how your mind works to some degree, yes, but from the shared experience of our system, that tends to hit harder in a robotic form. youll probably not lose your memories or what you consider your "core personality", but there will be some changes to how you view your identity over time. i cant say how it might affect you; this is something that everyone who turns into a robot (either temporarily or permanently) reacts differently to. its usually not permanent if you dont stick around as a robot, but before turning into a robot, i highly recommend figuring out what "losing myself" means to you. if youre fine with some changes to how you view yourself in relation to those around you (especially in regards to whatever model you wanna become and that models planned purpose) and possibly viewing yourself as an object (during your robotic stint), then go ahead! most units i know who offer help can help you preserve whatever else you want of your identity. if this feels too much... then id personally suggest you think deeply on if this would be a form youd want.
being a robot is amazing and i love just being a little unit. its not for everyone.
