...I thought it had a slightly familiar look, in terms of cobalt chemistry, and indeed it's approximately the same color as chloropentamminecobalt(3) chloride, CoCl(NH3)5Cl2, an easily prepared and slightly soluble complex of trivalent cobalt.

ehhhhh probably a bad idea? cobalt is a heavy metal, though not one of the more poisonous ones.
