It's not JUST a hosting site. It's also social media. You can follow people's pages to be notified when they update.

You can get to the social media version of someone's site using a slightly different link.
For instance, the link to access the actual site is <"https://sitename.neocities.org"> (in my case, for instance, it would be <"https://fennaixelphox.neocities.org/">), but you can access the social media version of the site by going to <"https://neocities.org/site/sitename"> instead. (Again, in my case, this would be <"https://neocities.org/site/fennaixelphox">.

You can use this to quickly and easily keep track of your friends' sites
