I just looked at a Pillowfort screenshot, and... I can't do this, man. I cannot deal with the fucking Numbers everywhere. And Tumblr and Mastodon are the same. I can't. Not even getting into all the other issues each site has, I just... I can't. I could use my computer person powers to hide the numbers for me, but they'll still be poisoning everyone else's brains. And then there's all the other issues. I can't.

I think using Neocities for my personal website and adding a blog on there would be an acceptable way for me to Post. It apparently supports custom domains and RSS, and the site itself would be a way for people who don't use RSS to keep up with me. It would be missing cute girls liking my selfies, but I suppose I could hack something together for that. Can I pull off posting just "I'm gay." all the time on a whole dedicated Blog? I think I'm willing to find out.

And but so like I do want social features, though. I want it to be as easy as possible for people to let me know that a familiar face liked what I posted. And that's what social networks do.

It turns out it's actually quite easy to hide the Numbers on Pillowfort via this thing, so maybe I can tolerate it. Dreamwidth also seems nice, but doesn't have likes or shares - but then I suppose people probably comment more instead. Maybe I'll post on both until I have a clear preference.

i havet heard about dreamwidth, ill definitely try it. no likes or shares sounds really cool in theory, as long as people actually comment more often to make up for it
