Well here I am

  • he/him

I like TTRPGs and video games developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio

I've been wanting to get stuck into a Starforged game for a long time, my wife is traveling, and I'm lonely and bored. So let's start a solo text-based actual play on cohost!

Like the title says, I plan to do this thing one Move a night. Starforged is a very Move-dense PBTA(ish) game, so I think it will be a good fit. I was gonna call it One Roll a Night, but then I realized that would likely mean many instances of making a Move then having to wait 24 hours to interpret the results with an Oracle roll, and I am simply not that patient.

Now let's start at the start, Choosing Your Truths. Starforged presents 14 of these categories, which means we'll have ourselves a Galaxy of Adventure all crisped up and ready to go in two weeks. Neat!

Cataclysm Roll: 64

"Interdimensional entities invaded our reality"

This is the reason our spacefaring civilization left its home behind. The result I rolled is probably my least favorite of the three options (the other two are something called a "sunplague" and a forever space war, can you blame me) but I shouldn't let Lovecraft put me off the entire concept. I'm not going to lock myself into going with a fully random result every time, by the way. For these mega-broad decisions, I tend to prefer it.

Let's roll on the subtable to get more specific.

Subtable Roll: 69; nice

"These entities took the form of beings of chaotic energy."

Oh! Huh! I'm still concerned because I have no idea how to visualize that. However, the saving grace here is that this Truth likely won't come up all that much in the beginning. I'll have some time to see how they may fit in with the other pieces that are about to fall into place.

Well, that's it for tonight! Tomorrow we'll find out how we got away from those dang Knuckles' Chaotix!
