Hi! Today is Creator Day on itch.io, which means that itch gives their cut of all sales straight to the developers instead. So if you want to buy some games and support some indie game developers, today is a great day to do it! There are tons of games on there and it's worth looking around to see what you can find, but here are 10 of my recommendations:
- Annalynn (link)
A super charming 2D platformer inspired by early 80s arcade games like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong Jr, overflowing with personality and charm.
- BAD END THEATER (link)
(disclaimer: I helped test this game)
A game about trying to save a cast of ridiculously appealing characters from a bad end, by toggling their behaviors and making different decisions.
- Blue Revolver (link)
A vertical scrolling 2D shooter with lots of fun weapons, great level design and scoring system, and an accessible mission mode to help you get started.
- ElecHead (link)
A masterfully made puzzle platformer with no text, about a cute robot who can supply electricity to anything that its removable head touches.
- Hazelnut Hex (link)
(disclaimer: I helped test this game)
A horizontal scrolling 2D shooter about a cute witch cereal mascot trying to save breakfast, with fun levels and incredible art and music.
- Maiden & Spell (link)
A fun and polished versus shmup that has online multiplayer with rollback netcode and great lobbies, and a fantastic single player mode too.
- Petal Crash (link)
A charming arcade puzzle game about pushing blocks and setting up chain reactions. This one also has online multiplayer with rollback netcode and great lobbies, and lots of fantastic single player modes too.
- Secret Little Haven (link)
A fantastic game about a trans teen using the late 90s internet to escape from her abusive family situation. This hits pretty close to home for me, but I'm sure that other people will be able to connect with it too.
- SOKOBOT (link)
(disclaimer: I helped test this game)
A puzzle game about placing and programming cute robots. It's super accessible by programming game standards, but there's still a ton of depth when it comes to solving the later puzzles or trying to optimize your solutions.
- Chessplosion (link)
(disclaimer: I made this game)
I had to sneak in my own game at the end of this list, sorry! It's an arcade action puzzle game where you drop chess piece bombs to create chain reactions and trap opponents, with lots of extra game modes like a roguelike-inspired dungeon crawling mode, a puzzle mode with a puzzle editor, and online multiplayer with rollback netcode.
And that's the end of my list. Have fun supporting indie developers today on itch.io Creator Day and let me know if there are any other great games that I missed!
