when i wrote the postmortem for my game ducky's delivery service a few months ago, i mentioned that even though i ended up making the exact game that i wanted to make, i still wasted far too much time stressing out over whether or not the game would have mass appeal. i even spent a few days prototyping a feature that i didn't care about, just because i thought it might make the game appeal to a wider audience of players (that didn't include myself).

this was a terrible idea! i'm never going to do it again, and you shouldn't do anything like that either.

but as part of that unused feature, i had to draw tiny pixel art dioramas of each of the game's areas. i drew them a year ago and forgot about them almost immediately afterwards, but i stumbled upon them this morning while i was digging around for placeholder sprites and they look so much better than i remembered! back when i drew them i was so busy worrying about whether or not they would be legible as tiny sprites in a 640x360 game that i never stopped to appreciate how cute they were in their own right.

i hope you like the look of them too! i think i'd like to make a little game that looks like this one day..
