Hey cohost! After a lot of troubleshooting I've learned my laptop's wifi card is dying.
Right now I've got an old raspberry pi canakit adapter which is fine, but a temporary solution.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a small USB wifi card that has decent range and can dualband 2.4 and 5ghz?

  • preferably without a giant antenna lmao
  • I know USB is limiting but I'm really not looking to crack this thing open and replace the card if I can avoid it.

dunno about usb i've been using a bunch of those for years and they all sucked x3
but if u have a free m.2 slot that might be something worth looking into cuz then u can get an ax210 or something

there are some laptops that expose those very easily so you can have a user replaceable ssd

this has been the only usb one without big antenna I've used that didn't randomly overheat or drop out tho, but I'm also using it on one of those lil arm handhelds so it's not a big stress test and it doesn't have great range https://www.mediamarkt.de/de/product/_edimax-w125838511-usb-wlan-adapter-123746315.html
