i try not to think about how much stuff is put on the internet solely to get you to see some advertisements. maybe 50? 60%? of youtube at this point is content slop made purely to get ad revenue. everything is ads. it makes me miserable and i can't wait for the collapse of the ad industry

i don't think this one is fair. not because all the people doing those awkward ad reads are making art that's worth anyone's time, but because those two aren't really related.
like i really think we shouldn't conflate Viability with Deserves To Exist. it's soooo hard not to because at some practical level you have to be that cynical at some point, but we gotta strive to remember that the idea itself is wrong and art is actually real and valuable even if it doesn't stack dollars for some suited waxy blob motherfucker somewhere
