I've been a bit lethargic the last few days, which isn't ideal when there's so much going on! apart from my personal essay about American Idiot, which I hope my fellow Green Day fans enjoyed, I have a full slate of stories from the U.S. and abroad for your edification and enjoyment:

Boy, J.D. Vance sure said a lot of wild shit in the past four years, huh? After a ton of bad press earlier this month for his "childless cat ladies" quip about Democrats, Vance is facing similar scrutiny for his statements about American Federation of Teachers president Randi Weingarten, a Jewish lesbian and stepmother to her wife's two biological kids. Weingarten "doesn’t have a single child," Vance falsely told a Christian-branded event in 2021, accusing her of wanting to "brainwash and destroy the minds of children." Republicans have always hated teachers, but they have expressed a particular hatred for Weingarten (and the feeling is mutual); Mike Pompeo once referred to her as "the most dangerous person in the world" and said she and the AFT were capable of "taking down the republic." I fucking wish, dude.
