I live in Portland and sometimes I make video games if I can find somebody who will pay me to do it.

Still kinda playing No Man's Sky sometimes.

I built this big cylindrical room but I can't figure out how to build a door so I can go inside it.

I'm not really sure what I want to be doing in the game. I kinda want to build a cool base, but it also feels kinda pointless to establish a base if I'm just going to keep wandering further and further away from it to get to the center of the galaxy or whatever. I took a mission to scan stuff, but I can't find all of the stuff to scan (apart from creatures, it's very hard to tell what you have or haven't already scanned), so I haven't been able to complete it. I feel like most of my time is spent scrounging for materials so I can recharge all the systems that are getting depleted in the process of scrounging for materials.

This is a weird game.

Yeah it has a lot of systems but they kind of hang loosely together. You can have a teleporter in your base so you could always return to it but yeah the constant exploration makes it hard for me to get invested in the base building.
