I live in Portland and sometimes I make video games if I can find somebody who will pay me to do it.

I'm trying to get back into my dwarf fortress after not playing for most of the year. It's kind of tough because I can't remember things like where I put the levers that control my devices. Plus, the agitated animals are out of control; they're constantly fighting with my livestock and interrupting dwarves when they go up to the surface (which they shouldn't really be doing anyway and I'm not sure why they keep going up there). There's also constant job constellation spam in my alerts because I have a bunch of cage traps (intended to keep the agitated animals from getting into the fortress) and the dwarves keep trying to reload them, but I don't have enough cages, and if I want to make more I need to cut down some trees, which would mean going up to the surface, where they'd have to deal with the agitated animals. The population of stray cats and dogs is getting out of hand too, but I can't bring myself to slaughter any of them.

I'm still trying to satisfy the king's demands for rooms. He's happy with his throne room, bedroom, and dining room, but not his tomb. I keep shoving more statues of him in there, but it's still not enough. The outpost liaison has a bunch of demands too, but I don't really care. She wants a throne room with a trifle pewter door. Sheesh. Even the king isn't that picky.

This fortress has been going for 10 years and seems to be sustaining itself okay. I'm kind of thinking about retiring it and starting a new one (hopefully without agitating the wildlife so much), but I'm worried I won't remember how to do any of the complicated stuff like setting up a well. I wish I could start a new fortress while also being able to come back to this one if I want to.
